FRANCESCA SCAINI ART THERAPY SERVICES

Helping Your Child/Adolescent Heal

Every child/adolescent should have the right to be provided with the most facilitating conditions for growth and development. They deserve the chance to fulfill their needs for coping with stress, gaining mastery, self-worth, and expression. Art therapy is a treatment modality that is naturally catered to children and adolescents, who have the inherent capacity and desire to create, explore and imagine. Art therapy is a safe way for a child/teen to grow and develop through art making and play. It can be a way for them to make sense of their difficulties, expel pent up emotions, and transform anxiety.

BOOKING SESSIONS

New Client's Welcome!

BOOKING

Your initial consult is free to allow the opportunity to exchange information with each other so that I can learn more about your child and so you can decide if art therapy will be a good fit. Afterwards, it is ideal to book an intake session and sessions to follow in blocks of 6 as this time frame allows me to create an appropriate plan and establish goals of therapy. The 6 sessions may occur over the span of 6-20 weeks. This time period will ensure that we are making progress and gives us the opportunity to plan and reevaluate treatment goals. A typical session lasts 1 hour, but may be shorter or longer depending on the case and number of children/adolescents.

PRICING

I understand that therapy can be expensive, but please know that I am invested in your child’s/teen's healing. If you are concerned that you may not be able to afford art therapy, you and I can decide on a fee that is suitable after your initial intake for your ongoing treatment. It is also possible for art therapy to be covered under insurance depending on your type of plan.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Please note that I require 24 hours of notice if you need to cancel, or there will be a cancellation fee for the missed session.

ABOUT ME

RP, MA, BFA, CATA

My ambition will always be to support the mental wellness and healing of children. I am an Art Therapist and Registered Psychotherapist and have over 10 years of working experience with children in educational, clinical and hospital settings. I received my master’s degree in Art Therapy from New York University where the guiding theoretical orientation is psychoanalytic. My training also involved empirically based developments, particularly attachment theory  and trauma research. I also have training in CBT, DBT and suicide prevention. I have provided art therapy and psychotherapy to a variety of populations in Toronto, Manhattan, and Argentina including: high-risk youth; indigenous children; psychiatric patients; children with developmental disabilities; children with anxiety and ADHD; children affected by abuse and trauma; and LGBTQ+. I use a psychodynamic and culturally sensitive approach in treatment that is client-led, focusing on the unique strengths of each child.
